Photography | Faces of Scarborough
“Scarborough has embedded in me a colourful view of the world. I hope my work can capture and archive that.”
Sagal Duale is a Somali-Canadian visual artist and illustrator who works in several mediums, and photography has been an essential medium for capturing the diversity she sees around her.
In her artistic practice, she utilizes a mixture of traditional and digital mediums in her work. As a self-taught artist, the pandemic reignited her love for visual arts. Photography has been a part of her life since childhood, thanks to her father, who is an amateur photographer.
Sagal has worked with arts organizations since 2019. Sagal has been mentored and worked
with organizations such as Scarborough Arts, Toronto Art Council, Oddside Arts, and JAYU. Sagal is currently working at Scarborough Arts as a Community Arts Coordinator.
