Visual Art | RISE
“No matter where my artistic journey takes me, Scarborough always resurfaces – in the communities I teach, the stories I tell, and the work I create. Where I come from lives in my process and shines through in ways both seen and unseen.”
Jamera is a Scarborough-born digital & traditional Multidisciplinary Artist of Jamaican heritage. With every brushstroke, her work uses a treatment of bold colors & layers of organic shapes to explore stories in a new light.
Her artistic journey began in early childhood, designing & sewing doll clothing out of fabric scraps, to painting intricate designs on her nails as an adolescent. She’s always known how to reimagine what’s around her & create something new. This practice never left her side, as she’s grown into her artistic journey, transforming ideologies into visual poetry.
Jamera’s inspiration is in nature, music, culture & her spiritual journey. Her works have been featured in the VIBE Arts NExT program, Worth Gallery, Rising VR, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), City Of Toronto Employment & Social Services (Etobicoke), & Brampton’s Emancipation Park.
Through her brand Just J. Art, Jamera’s goal is to engage, shift perspectives, & inspire. Enriching the world with messages of light & love.
