Cee For Carnival

Cultural Art Curator & Designer | Faces of Scarborough

“Scarborough is deeply rooted in who I am. Growing up in Malvern, surrounded by places like Malvern Mall, STC, and local community spaces, I was constantly surrounded by culture, creativity, and connection.
My school community at Pearson Collegiate was incredibly diverse and always celebrated different cultures proudly, which gave me the confidence to embrace my Caribbean identity and explore my creativity from a young age.”

Celena Seusahai is a Scarborough-born Creative Director, designer, and cultural leader dedicated to preserving and evolving Caribbean culture through art, fashion, and community engagement. Growing up in Malvern and deeply connected to her Trinidadian roots, she developed a passion for Carnival, creativity, and community from a young age.
Raised within a family deeply involved in mas and costume production, Celena credits her parents, Trinidadian immigrants and founders of Tribal Carnival, as a major influence on her career path and creative vision. What began as a family passion has grown into one of Canada’s leading Carnival brands, with Celena now serving as CEO of Tribal Carnival and continuing to build on its legacy.
Born legally blind and having undergone corrective surgeries throughout her life, Celena has used resilience and creativity to overcome challenges while advocating for accessibility, representation, and inclusion within the arts and cultural industries.
She made history as the youngest female large bandleader to win Band of the Year at Toronto Carnival and has since expanded her work beyond Carnival into education, youth outreach, workshops, pageantry, costume design, and cultural programming, using creativity as a tool for empowerment, storytelling, and cultural preservation.
