It’s official: IKEA is coming to STC on August 23rd!
The 7,489-squre meter store is designed specifically for the Scarborough community and beyond. Featuring all the IKEA fixtures you know and love including the iconic showrooms, a range of convenient services including assembly, returns, home delivery and a dedicated Planning Hub, and, of course, the Swedish Deli food experience home to IKEA’s beloved meatball, veggie dog and frozen yogurt.
At IKEA STC, you’ll not only be able to find inspiration for your home, but also shop the Swedish retailer’s most popular products. With the traditional one-way flow layout renowned at the larger format IKEA locations, the store offers endless inspiration with a mix of furniture and home furnishing accessories.
Ahead of the store’s grand opening, we’ve rounded up some IKEA best-sellers and must-haves for some shopping inspo.
Functional (Yet Stylish) Furniture
IKEA is known for its affordable and sustainable small space living solutions and these best-selling pieces of furniture are no exception. The SKARPÖ armchair is maintenance-free, fade-resistant and UV stabilized, making it the perfect outdoor chair. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also functional with its stackable design to help you save space. For indoor storage, consider the MALM 4-drawer chest which offers an easy elegant boost while helping to de-clutter. And we must give a special shoutout to the OLIVBLAD stand, the ultimate multitasker. Whether for plants, or a mini bar for all your liqueurs, or even a side table for a cup of coffee, this stand offers functionality and is stylish all at the same time.
Pinterest-Worthy Décor
The best way to spruce up your living space is adding touches of new décor. The SVARTPOPPEL cushion cover is super soft and features a tactile pattern that enhances the different tones in the pile and base. With six colours to choose from, it’s the perfect addition to your armchair or sofa. If your coffee or entryway table need a bit of a glow up, consider the STILREN vase to hold fresh florals or pampas grass. Finally, the MOSSLANDA picture ledge is a cult classic display shelf to show paintings, photos and other favourite items.
Bathroom Refresh
There’s nothing like fresh towels for the ultimate bathroom refresh! The VÅGSJÖN bath towel comes in five colours and features a combination of solid terry and stripes that absorbent, quick-drying and most importantly, soft against the skin. The LINDBYN mirror is a classic circular mirror that looks equally as chic in the bathroom as well as the entryway. And of course, we can’t forget about the ever-so-popular FÖRSIKTIG children’s stool. It’s essential for any little one who’s reaching new heights, both in and outside of the bathroom.
Kitchen Essentials
No trip to IKEA is complete without picking up some kitchen essentials. The UPPFYLLD colander is a fan-fave thanks to its affordable price and its multi-use functionality, from colander to strainer. The FAERGRIK stoneware mug is also a classic for its versatility and ability to easily coordinate with other dishware. And while you’re at it, why not grab a couple of KUNGSFORS mesh bags? These sustainable cotton bags can be used to shop and store for fruits and vegetables – and they also make a great fashion statement.
Don’t Forget the Swedish Deli!
Once your IKEA shopping is complete, head over to the Swedish deli to enjoy some tasty faves: the frozen yogurt, cinnamon buns and, of course, the famous Swedish meatballs which are available fresh at the deli or purchased frozen to make at home (look for the HUVUDROLL frozen meatballs). With three options to choose from (beef, chicken, and vegetable), the options are endless for delicious recipes including spaghetti and meatballs, in a pita, or the traditional Swedish way with mashed potatoes, cream sauce and lingonberry jam.
Make Your Own Hot Air Balloon!
What better way to celebrate STC’s 50th birthday than to create your own hot air balloon for your home? Use the following three IKEA products and some rope and you’ll be hanging hot air balloons from your ceiling in no time!
Now that you’re briefed on all things IKEA, be sure to visit IKEA Scarborough Town Centre, opening Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 9AM.
